Privacy Policy

What we collect when you use Cloord Publisher, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cloord ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data when you use Cloord Publisher (the "Service"), our online studio for designing textbooks, workbooks, question papers and other books. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account — with email and password, or with Google sign-in — we receive your name and email address. Your email address identifies your account and is used when other users share books with you.

Your content

The books you create — pages, text, images, equations, master pages, settings and cover thumbnails — are stored so you can open them from any device.

Sharing information

When you invite someone to a book, we store their email address and their access level (editor or viewer), and add the book to their list of shared books. If the person does not have an account yet, we create a placeholder record for that email address so the book appears when they first sign in.

Payment information

If you buy a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment gateway partner. We receive confirmation of the payment, the plan, the amount and a transaction reference. We do not store your card, UPI or bank details.

Technical information

To keep you signed in and the Service secure, your browser stores sign-in tokens. Our hosting providers may record standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and request times in their logs.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • create and run your account and let you sign in;
  • store, save and display your books, and export them as PDFs;
  • let you share books with editors and viewers;
  • process payments, refunds and plan limits;
  • keep the Service secure and prevent misuse;
  • answer your questions and send important messages about your account or the Service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your books for advertising.

3. Where your data is stored

Your account and books are stored with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) region, India. Images are stored in private storage and are only shown to people who have access to the book, using short-lived secure links. Sign-in is provided by Amazon Cognito, and Google sign-in by Google.

4. Who can see your books

Your books are private by default. Only you, and the people you invite as editors or viewers, can open a book. Removing someone's access stops them from opening it.

5. Sharing with third parties

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the Service — hosting and storage (AWS), sign-in (Amazon Cognito, Google) and payments (our payment gateway) — and only as needed for that purpose. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the Service.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your account and books for as long as your account is active. When you delete a book, its pages and images are deleted from our storage. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we must keep certain records (for example payment records) to meet legal obligations.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your account and personal data;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To make a request, contact us through cloord.com/contact-us.

8. Children

Cloord Publisher is designed for teachers, schools, publishers and authors. If a student under 18 uses the Service, it should be with the consent and supervision of a parent, guardian or school.

9. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), private storage, access checks on every request and short-lived links for images. No online service can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and will act promptly if a problem occurs.

10. Cookies and local storage

We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember editor preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for important changes, let you know through the Service.
